About

Korean-American musician Margaret Sohn (they/she) talks back to the voices in their head through their low-end, punchy electro-pop project, Miss Grit.

After 16 years of guitar training and a degree in music technology from NYU, Sohn still battles imposter syndrome, amongst many other qualms their latest EP Imposter dives into. In terms of both production and lyricism, Sohn’s range is vast - covering racial identity, the pressures of being an artist, adhering to standards and breaking molds alike.

Miss Grit’s sound is patient and rewarding - their latest single “Like You” feels both grounding and existential, with a deceiving melodic bounciness and cautiously cutting verses, it almost feels like we’re navigating uncharted emotional territory alongside them.

“I had the character of Ex Machina in mind as the voice I was singing from. Her arc in the movie felt really beautiful to me, and I wanted to reach the same ending as her in this song.” - Margaret Sohn

Miss Grit’s discography has seen consistent playlisting support from Spotify with placements on Fresh Finds, Today’s Indie Rock, New Noise, badass + more.
