About

Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Junior Mesa brings a certain virtuosity to his music only few can. The Bakersfield-born artist moved to Los Angeles at 19, but faced new uncertainties after numerous seizures led to an epilepsy diagnosis. This new self-discovery shifted his perspective on creativity, claiming he “was in this toxic relationship with music: it was the only thing [he] loved, but it was killing [him] in a very literal way.”

However, Junior Mesa found a way to channel his anxieties and the lack of control he felt in his life into his music. Fusing the ebbing and flowing of ambient music with psychedelic rock and alt-pop influences, Junior Mesa crafts an indie vibe that feels entirely new, yet timeless. He allows inspiration to come from all forms of artistry, such as poetry and visual art, along with – of course – his favorite musicians like Prince and Aphex Twin.

Despite having just released his EP “Quit Your Job, Runaway!” last month, Junior Mesa is far from finished treating his fans. This year will see him play at Lollapalooza, release the vinyl of his new EP, and drop a brand new song next Friday.

Junior Mesa has seen support on playlists like Indie Chillout and has had his song “Losing My Grip” featured in the Amazon Original Movie “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things” back in 2021. Learn more about the Bakersfield artist below.
