21-year-old singer/songwriter Niko Rubio takes bedroom pop on the road with a refreshing indie-rock sound slated to soundtrack your next scenic drive.
A Pisces hailing from southern California with familial roots in Mexico, Rubio’s heritage intentionally shines through her music. After making her debut on a number of Spanish-language TV shows at twelve years old, Rubio’s bouncy and ethereal track “I Dreamt About You Again Last Night” caught the attention of pop songwriter JKash (Kesha, One Direction, Maroon 5), ultimately striking up a deal with Atlantic Records.
“Inspired by the coast”, Niko’s first major label drop, Wish You Were Here, brings a sonic levity to unrequited love with bouncy bass riffs, a textured low-end, with an addictive touch of escapism.
Fresh off her live debut supporting Omar Apollo on the Desvelado tour and a Lollapalooza set, Rubio’s latest singles “Love Me Till U Hate Me” and “Over For Real” have seen editorial support from Spotify’s sad hour, SALT, + more.
