About

Not many artists can boast having created a sound that is unabashedly unique to them; a style that is intrinsically linked to their identity. Having grown up in Barbados, Singapore, Indonesia, and America, Ayoni and her music are anything but one dimensional. With influences of gospel, folk, R&B, electro-pop, soul and more, the songstress refuses to stay in the same lane, emphasizing the story of the song over anything else.

Ayoni’s newest project, The Vision, expands this idea as the EP is largely experimental. Stacked vocal harmonies create lush, textured landscapes that blend effortlessly with shimmery synths on tracks like You Said I Love You Too Soon and Vision. The process of creating the EP was a very organic experience, starting with minimal production on a Logic file or barebones of a song on a piano. With the help of producer and friend Cole Mitchell, Ayoni gave herself the liberty to create “a more cohesive sound” for herself.

In tangent with her EP’s release, Ayoni is making rounds with her stellar live performances. She has recently played a celestial set at School Night and wrapped up a show at The Moroccan Lounge. Expanding into Europe with two shows later this month, Ayoni is undoubtedly a powerhouse you should keep looking out for.

“Isolation, hyper connectivity, the internet, and folk sounds have all been influential in my life […] I'm constantly taking in new information and allowing that to affect my next move and I think that is beginning to reflect for me” - Ayoni
